Spawning from Vienna, Austria, Henrik Huber is a solo guitarist that began his journey at the age of twelve and has been gracing the world with his playing ever since. All the hard work and practice culminated into releasing his first solo album in 2018, and if we skip forward, has brought us to Solipsist, Henrik's most recent instrumental release. Inspired form the sparring dichotomy of life and death, peace and chaos, and affection and conflict, Solipsist is an absolutely beautiful and stellar addition to progressive metal history.
The highlights below barely scratch the surface, check out the full album for the correct listening experience:
Opening the album is "I've Seen the End", perfectly teasing what you will hear on the rest of the album all the while creating a unique sound to separate itself as a stand out track. Mixing up the pace, moving from slow, melodic and emotional progressions to incredibly fast and technical, "I've Seen the End" has absolutely everything you could want from a metal instrumental.
"Blame" is another highlight from the five track album, beginning softly and progressively building throughout the song. Without any warning the track picks up, the drums blasting underneath an incredibly groovy guitar riff that moves through several stages, never allowing the listener to get bored by recycling notes. "Blame" also incorporates other instruments and blends them into the track beautifully, piecing together and incredibly polished gem that will get any listener excited about music.
If you are a fan of instrumentals, or the aggression of the metal sound but can't stand the vocals, this is a perfect album to add to your collection.
