El Famous - "Cycles" LP Review

Updated: May 20, 2020

Keeping it short and sweet, the band El Famous is just that, El Famous. Studying their inspirations but creating their own sound, Cycles is an incredibly professional album you would expect to hear from a band that has been around for decades. El Famous has cracked the code and found their sound, mixing so many elements into a flawless album.

Below barely scratches the surface, giving you a place to start for listening to El Famous, but do yourself a favor and jam out to the full album.

"Sleep" picks up where "Trance" leaves off, keeping the quick and loud pace, solo guitar starting the song before the drums and screams enter. Shifting back to the cleans before the chorus, the melodic singing will cover your body with goosebumps and the accompanying instruments will have you swaying back and forth. Switching between screams and cleans, the chorus will get stuck in your head all day, incredibly catchy and instrumentally upbeat.

"Judas" takes a step back with an incredibly powerful performance from the clean singing, the lyrics delivered beautifully. Each line is distinct and can connect with anyone who is listening, emotion and passion dripping from every word. The screams are expertly placed within the song to drive home the meaning, creating a masterfully crafted and well executed track.

"Amongst the Dead" brings back heavy to this list, the intro guitar riff simple and amazing, capable of inspiring anyone to pick the instrument up for themselves. "Amongst the Dead" is a great example of the sheer talent that El Famous has. From the range of the vocals to the pacing of the drums and synchronized guitar, this song is the very definition of perfection.

Are you a fan of Deftones, Thrice or Ghost? This album is absolutely perfect for you, that's it. Stop reading and check the album out. Seriously. Don't thank me, thank El Famous for this absolutely killer album.
