"Chicago area death metal act, Discarnate, are releasing their very first EP which will be titled The Derangement. (Release Date: May 16th, 2016 with album artwork done by Remy at Headsplit Design)  Not only have Discarnate completely restored my faith in recent death metal, but what they have done with this EP is perfectly blend old school death metal, thrash and heavy metal. This combination is what makes The Derangement such a pleasure to listen to, it is sure to attract any fan of extreme music, period. Opening up with a quote by Joe Pesci from the classic movie, Casino, the first track “Antinomies” welcomes you with blistering drums and summoning guitar work. Shortly succeeding the intro is a headbanging groove that will spark some movement in your neck without a doubt.

Throughout The Derangement, Discarnate offers you speed, aggression and savage riffs that resemble death metal from the early 90’s. Vocalist Matthew Maggio spews bellowing howls atop battering commotion, complementing each song superbly. Finishing off the EP is my personal favorite track “Illusory Queen,” a pulverizing track from beginning to end. This song is a roller coaster of death, seamlessly transitioning from fast to heavy constantly through out the song. The song comes to head with blasts and layered vocals to generate even more demonic growls, leaving me completely ready for more. Discarnate have sure made a fan out of me and if this is what they have to offer after only being together for a year and some months, I am extremely excited for this bands future."
