Dire Atrophy - "Origins" EP Review

Updated: May 20, 2020

Coming back for the sequel, you may remember Dire Atrophy as the band at the forefront of mixing metal music with the gaming world. Well they are back and better than ever with Origins, a monumental 5 song release that will make metalheads and gamers rejoice!

If you are are like me and can never find enough time in the day, here are a few songs that will turn you into a fanatic of Dire Atrophy:

"Origins" opens the album with a bang, immediately throwing you into the beautiful sound that is Dire Atrophy. The intro guitar riff is absolutely killer, scratching any melodic itch that you may have. The vocal range is on another level, the screams earth shattering while the clean singing is emotionally therapeutic and powerful. Both the screams and the cleans are perfectly controlled. "Origins" is the perfect song to kick off the album, teasing the elements that you will find later in the album while also setting itself apart from the rest of the songs.

"For7ress" is a monster of a song, sitting with a run time over seven minutes. But don't let that discourage you from jamming this song. The guitar will get your head banging harder than it ever has, with the drums providing the perfect foundation to build off of, making your feet look as though they are itching to do an Irish jig. Even with a run time that is almost twice any other song on the album, the time moves so fast that you will be hitting the replay button over and over again to hear it just one more time.

If you love the mixture of many genres into each song, I don't understand why you are still reading this, grab yourself a copy of Origins already. You can thank me later.
