Fan of Metalcore? Fan of Electronica? Well Leicester, UK based band;
Cabin Boy Jumped Ship blends the two genres together effortlessly. With a huge fan base out of the UK and oversees the band is looking to tour the United States in the very near future. CBJS is set to release their third album, 'The Heartless' this summer with an album release show in August. I caught up with the band for a quick little interview.
Please give us a short little backstory on how and when Cabin Boy Jumped Ship got started?
CBJS: Cabin Boy started back in 2012 with the only original members still in the band being Jay and Conor. The band wanted to create a fresh new vibe in the UK by blending synth back into the metal scene and since then have changed members until you have the final line up you see today.
How did you come up with the name; Cabin Boy Jumped Ship?
CBJS: I wish i could tell you an amazing backstory to this but it simply was a name we liked from a selection we have got it down to!
For those who've never heard of Cabin Boy Jumped Ship, how would you describe your sound?
CBJS: In your face party music to blast with the homies.
What are you influences musically?
CBJS: We're big fans of the electronicore scene and take inspiration from a lot of killer bands in that scene but in our own style.
What is your biggest accomplishment as a band so far?
CBJS: Playing Download Festival in the UK to 3000 people is up there! We have had so many cool moments as a band its hard to pick just one!
Your newest song RIP features Fronz of Attila. How did that collaboration occur?
CBJS: We were playing a show with Attila at Impericon Fest and got chatting in the green room! The rest is history!
Explain the meaning of "RIP".
CBJS: Its us being reborn as a band and going at this with full force, a new look, a new album and a tone of new adventures for us as musicians.
Who else would you like to do a collaboration with?
CBJS: There's a lot of people we'd love to collab with for future albums, we'll have to see how it all pans out!
If Cabin Boy Jumped Ship could create any lineup for your own tour, what bands would you bring on the road with you?
CBJS: There's so many great bands out there we'd love to play with but personally hitting the road with bands like I See Stars, We Came As Romans, Attila, and Asking Alexandria would be sweet.
What are the bands goals for this upcoming year?
CBJS: Once our album drops 26th July we plan on touring and meeting some new fans across the globe!
